RECOM RVP6501 Driver IC

The RVP6501 from RECOM Power is a push-pull transformer driver IC designed to enable discrete isolated DC/DC power supply designs with improved performance and protection. It is a pin-compatible second-source alternative to the widely used 6501-type driver IC, operating from a 2.8V to 6V supply while tolerating transients up to 10V and delivering up to 500mA across the full input range. Compared to standard 6501-type devices, it offers higher output current and improved performance in both 3.3V and 5V systems.
The device features adaptive dead-time control that automatically adjusts switching behavior based on gate drive conditions, helping compensate for temperature, load, and aging effects. It also includes continuous current monitoring for short-circuit and overload protection, helping address flux imbalance and core saturation risks in push-pull topologies, supporting more stable and reliable discrete power designs across demanding applications.
